I didnt want to spend too long on the logo for the manual, since the primary focus of the brief was to do the layout and to produce the manual to a high standard for submission. At the same time though I wanted the logo to be bold and recognisable to my target audience. I did only two sheets of logo development since I had a good idea of what I wanted to design. The choice of weapons in the logo was essential, I wanted casual, hardcore and passive players to recognise at least 4 of the weapons as to ascertain if what I'm doing is maintaining a coherent level of communication.
At first I experimented with colour but found it to be redundant in terms of producing something that fit with what I was doing. Instead I thought the logo would be white or black since logos tend to be in monotone or duotone that this should be applied to the overall design.
The type choices were based on what I was looking at at the start of the project, narrowing it down to a medium, stocky, bold, sans serif font. I settled on a webfont called Federation Starfleet.
